After the release of Magnolia 6.1, one of the most comprehensive product updates of Magnolia, the next version, Magnolia 6.2, has now been released. The current version has many new useful features for frontend and backend developers, but also for marketing experts and authors.
What is a Headless CMS ?
In the past, a CMS had the task of enabling the editing of content. Often content was provided via browsers in the form of web pages. Today this has changed: a CMS has to serve a wide variety of platforms and end devices, which means that a CMS has to serve several devices and structures. A headless CMS architecture is fundamental to accomplish the task as a content hub. This means that much more content can be created and managed easily and made available in many more places.
However, a headless CMS or a content hub by itself is not enough to satisfy marketing experts, since marketing-friendly functions such as drag & drop functions are omitted. The new Digital Experience in Magnolia 6.2 solves this problem and enables marketers to easily create omnichannel experiences. It makes it easy to deliver content to multiple channels. Developers are helped by the fact that content is available through a clean, fast-to-deploy API, rather than having to manage each channel separately.
The vision of Magnolia is to create a digital experience for Omni channels. With the new features of the new Magnolia version 6.2, Magnolia is taking a big step closer to this vision.
The latest Features of Magnolia CMS 6.2 in detail:
VISUAL SPA EDITOR- ENABLING A SPECIAL AUTHORING EXPERIENCE
In Magnolia 6.2, the Author Experience has gained particular importance. Support for SPAs (Single Page Applications) plays a significant role in this respect. SPAs are web-based applications that dynamically load their content from a content hub or headless CMS in the browser. SPAs thus make constant reloading of the entire website unnecessary. SPAs enable new digital experiences for authors and are also easier to handle for front-end developers through Magnolia.

In order to guide customers optimally through their customer journey, companies must know the important touchpoints between their customers and their own company. It is therefore important to create digital, dynamic and individual customer experiences across many touchpoints. However, since content often gets stuck in silos, creating a holistic, unique customer experience is a challenge for many companies.
